About the Artist

Marney Makridakis, the creator of Story Worlds, lives in the constant energy of creativity. Story Worlds are her latest fun projects, begun during the pandemic in 2020. Always fascinated by creating worlds, she began making a series of pictures about interiors to explore the inner worlds we create when we can't leave home.  Each picture is illustrated with a very short story to give a glimpse of the world inside.  She loves creating with words and art, and has spent the past two decades helping individuals of all ages find their own creative spark and express it in a way that supports their health and happiness.

Other Worlds

ARTELLA LAND: In 2000, Marney founded Artella Land, the ground-breaking online creativity network that was one of the very first virtual social communities. It has served as a creative home to thousands of individuals whose dreams have come alive within the isles of Artella’s exciting map to creative inspiration and discovery.  Marney is also the founder of the ARTbundance approach to self-discovery through creativity. Since 2009, the ARTbundance Certification Training Program (ACT) has trained over 400 coaches and practitioners in her techniques, and is the result of her deep desire to help creatively minded people design a successful business rooted in true passion, personal joy, and creative meaning.  

READ PLAY LOVE: In 2015, she, her husband, and son Kai founded their non-profit organization, Read Play Love, which now operates as an Arts and Nature Exploratory Center in North Texas, which includes a children's library, beautiful gardens, and a new outdoor performance space.  Read Play Love's mission is to empower children through the arts and create an inclusive culture of love.

MUSICALS: Through their series of “new musicals for a new generation,” Marney and her husband Tony have written and produced eight original musicals. In upcoming news: Their musical, “The Whimsical World of Sherlock Holmes”, will make its New York premiere as part of the Broadway Bound Theatre Festival in September, 2021, one of the very first productions to be performed live in New York post-pandemic.

BOOKS: Marney is the author of two bestselling non-fiction books about creativity, published by New World Library: Creating Time: Reinvent the Clock and Reclaim Your Life, and Hop Skip Jump: 75 Ways to Playfully Manifest a Meaningful Life.
